Sharm el-Sheikh is a coastal city situated on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, in Egypt, between the Red Sea and Mount Sinai. On the Gulf of Aqaba is the Ras Mohamed National Park, which has a rich combination of land and sea wildlife. The coral reefs, with their fantastic colours and diverse underwater life are described as extraordinary, and are well worth a visit. In particular the Eel Garden is a popular attraction, with its population of 20m long garden eels.

Na’ama Beach is one of the centres of the tourist activities in Sharm el-Sheikh. Packed with diving opportunities to explore the underwater wildlife, this spot is incredibly popular among holiday makers. Most hotels along the Bay have their own private beaches with bars and seating.

Another tourist attraction is Sharks Bay Umbi Diving Village, situated just 10 minutes outside the Sharm el-Sheikh itself. This picturesque location has a well-equipped diving centre, a seafood restaurant, beach bar and a full range of water sports. Learning to dive here is an absolute pleasure, helped enormously by the centre’s experienced instructors and guides. Alternatively, why not try a Desert Safari in the Sinai desert with its fabulous mountains and wadis, or even a Camel ride? These activities perfectly combine the beauty of the Egyptian landscape with the fascinating culture of the Bedouins.

For a touch of retail therapy, head to the Sharm el-Sheikh Mall. It has a great mix of foreign and local products, so you’re bound to find some great souvenirs.
