Welcome to Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a city famed for its Casinos and the gambling associated with them. Fourteen of the largest hotels in the US are situated in Las Vegas and over 130,000 rooms are available to tourists. The city is also famous for its innovation in design of Hotels, Restaurants and Casinos, and is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations.

One of the first things you will notice if you are entering the Las Vegas Strip from the south side is the 25-foot-tall ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign. The sign marks the start of the Las Vegas strip and is known as a real landmark in the America.

At the Venetian, you can take sight-seeing tours, enjoy the in-suite dining, and catch comedy shows and musicals. Prices start at £105 per person/night. At the Bellagio and the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, you have the opportunity to experience the Cirque du Soleil, a Canadian entertainment company described as a “dramatic mix of circus arts and entertainment”. Prices start at £100 per person/night. At the Mirage, you can become a dolphin trainer for a day at Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. As well as fine dining and the activities available at these hotels, you can gamble the night away at the Casinos found in most of these hotels.

Shopping in Las Vegas

The city is also famous for its shopping. The Forum Shops is a 636,000 square-foot luxury shopping mall connected to Caesars Palace hotel and casino. The mall contains more than 160 high-end shops as well as 11 restaurants and is one of the most successful shopping malls in the US. It is also known as a major sighting point for American celebrities. There are also opportunities for shopping at The Crystals retail district which features many fashionable retailers.

Things to do

There are so many things to see and do in Las Vegas, so here are just a few popular options that you should sample. There’s Adventuredome, a 5-acre indoor amusement park positioned at Circus hotel and casino. It features 25 attractions and rides including the Canyon Blaster Roller Coaster, a miniature golf course, an arcade, clown shows and a rock climbing wall. In addition, you have the opportunity to dive with sharks at the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay Hotel. It’s pretty pricey at £430 per person (depending on the number of divers), and divers must be over 18 years of age, but it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. A great activity that is a must for anyone visiting the city is the New York-New York rollercoaster, located on the second level inside the hotel-casino. Prices are £9 per person/ride. It’s definitely worth visiting the Liberace Museum in Paradise, Nevada, just 5 minutes off Las Vegas Boulevard. The museum houses many of Liberace’s stage costumes, cars, jewelry, and lavishly decorated pianos. Finally, a highly popular spot in Las Vegas is the Fountains of Bellagio at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, a large dancing water fountain synchronized to music.
